A Windsor premier of a Canadian film with an accompanying guest actor or director will be screened followed by a reception.

The Can-Am Grand Prix of Cinema in partnership with the DFT

The Detroit Film Theatre (DFT) and Windsor International Film Festival (WIFF) are pleased to present the Can-AM Grand Prix of Cinema, a special presentation of four current films, two Canadian and two American, to be screened at the DFT and Windsor's Capitol Theatre. The four entries will be selected by programmers from both organizations and, most significantly, will provide Detroit and Windsor audiences an opportunity to select the winner of the Can-AM Grand Prix of Cinema Peoples’ Choice Award 2010.

Educational Program

Collaborating with Reel Canada, a national organization committed to increasing the appreciation and awareness of Canadian film for high school students, WIFF will present a mini festival of Canadian film for 600 Windsor high school students. The event will take place at the Capitol theatre in downtown Windsor on Tuesday, November 8th, 2011.

48 Hour FLICKFEST

A festival competition presents local filmmakers with the opportunity to practice their skills in the production of a short film to be created over a 48 hour period. The finalists and their films will be highlighted at a special screening and awards ceremony.

WIFF ‘LOCAL’ 2011 Feature Film Showcase

As part of the festival's mandate to promote and foster local films and filmmakers, WIFF 'LOCAL' 2011 will accept submissions of full length ( 70 minute) films and provide a vehicle for area filmmakers to showcase their considerable talents and increase their visibility. Our audience will select the winner of the Local 2011 People's Choice Award. Contact WIFF for guidelines at info@windsorfilmfestival.ca.

The Festival Screenings

Over 30 significant Canadian, local and international films will be screened over a three day period at the Capitol Theatre in downtown Windsor and the DFT in Detroit. Certain screenings will allow for interaction between the audience and directors and/or actors. The Pentastar, the Kelly and the Joy theatres in downtown Windsor will become screening venues for this year’s films along with DFT in Detroit for the Can/Am Grand Prix of Cinema
