FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2008 - Marks the festival's Gala Presentation of director Michael McGowan's fifth feature ONE WEEK (hyperlink to write-up) followed by the Festival's sexy, stylish and sophisticated After-Glow Reception. Take advantage of complimentary parking and then sashay down the red carpet to the elegant Augustus Room I to take in a screening of the compelling film, ONE WEEK. Following the film, experience a dazzling evening to remember at Windsor's premier resort casino-Caesars Windsor. The After-Glow Reception will feature sumptuous food stations including hand carved, sea salt encrusted hip of premium Alberta beef, Mediterranean penne with black olives and sundried tomato tapenade aioli, and tri-coloured fusilli with baby shrimp, scallops and squid in a garlic cream sauce. Finish with a selection of regional and international cheeses, delectable chocolate truffles and dipped fruits with nut biscotti. Enjoy conversation and cocktails and be entertained by FJ Brennan High School’s hip young musicians and drama and dance improvisations. SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2008 - The Art Gallery of Windsor presents Psyched Out: Art and the Unconscious, a special event exploring the relationship between the imagining mind and the creation of art with special guests Canadian filmmaker Guy Maddin; Windsor visual artist Michele Tarailo; art critic and educator Robert Enright; Ann Arbor psychiatrist Dr. Robert Slattery, and journalist Christina Clarke.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2008 - The Windsor International Film Festival reintroduces Reel Canada. A national organization devoted to increasing the awareness of Canadian culture to Canadian students through Canadian film in Canadian classrooms, Reel Canada will present a special day-long event at four school sites throughout the county, F.J. Brennan Catholic High School, Holy Names, St. Thomas of Villanova and Cardinal Carter. Guests, including actors, directors or others associated with the screenings will speak to the student audience and answer questions after each screening. The afternoon screening of a Canadian film, chosen by the students, will be viewed simultaneously at all participating high schools throughout Windsor and Essex County. Close to 1,500 students will then be able to view and participate by video conference in a question and answer session.
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2008 - Sees the introduction of Le Volet Franco. Promoting the region's Franco-Ontarian culture through the cinematic arts and introducing the talents of renowned and emerging French-Canadian directors, filmmakers and industry professionals to our youth, this initiative includes an impressive full-day of programming and workshops in partnership with the Le Conseil Scolaire de District des Ecoles Catholiques du Sud-Ouest and will be held at École Secondaire l'Essor. The day-long programming will be followed by an evening Premiere Screening of A L'OUEST DE PLUTON (French with English subtitles) at Ecole secondaire l'Essor in Tecumseh and directors Myriam Verreault and Henry Bernadet will be present to address the audience. SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2008 - The Windsor International Film Festival closes six days of sensational film with the FLICKFEST RECEPTION at The Room, 255 Ouellette Avenue, Windsor at 8 pm. Enjoy screenings of this year's 48 Hour Flick Fest submissions. and relax, rewind and replay the highlights of this year's Festival. Cover is $5 per person, FREE to FlickFest participants.
