Description:

Filmed over a decade, Quest is a moving vérité portrait of the Rainey family and their north Philly neighbourhood.

Christopher “Quest” Rainey and his wife, Christine, open the door of their basement music studio to the community. Serving as a creative sanctuary, it plays host to Freestyle Fridays, where young MCs express their rage in rhyme. Everyday family life is set against the backdrop of a country in turmoil, election news reports and neighbourhood shootings. With limited options, the family confronts the fear and tragedy of their circumstances with love, hope and music.

Quest is a tender, open-hearted look at good people reaching for better lives, quietly determined to beat the odds.
