Description:

Despite living in a day and age where convenience often means buying disposable, easily cared for articles of clothing, the shoe shine remains an often inexpensive luxury item that anyone with a good pair of loafers can afford. Canadian filmmaker, Stacey Tenenbaum, travels the world in Shiners to take a look at those who still practice the dying art of making shoes seem spiffy and new again.

Shiners is a breezy, entertaining, and informative look at something most people don’t give a second thought to.  It’s packed with colourful characters and different perspectives and styles, but perhaps most importantly it makes a cultural and economic case for buying nice shoes and taking care of them instead of running a decent pair into the ground.
